AI-Generated Artwork: What to Check Before Sending Your Design to Print

Artificial intelligence (AI) has made it easier than ever to create custom artwork. From company logos and promotional graphics to apparel designs, AI-generated images can be a convenient starting point for bringing creative ideas to life.

However, while AI can produce impressive visuals, it doesn't always get the details right.

At Badlime, we're seeing more customer-supplied artwork created using AI tools. Although these designs may look professional at first glance, they can contain errors that aren't immediately noticeable. Before submitting AI-generated artwork for production, it's important to understand what to look for and why reviewing your design matters.

Common Issues with AI-Generated Artwork

AI-generated designs can contain unexpected mistakes, even when the overall image looks correct.

1. Misspelled Words and Incorrect Text

One of the most common issues with AI-generated artwork is inaccurate text. AI may produce misspelled words, missing letters, incorrect punctuation, or text that looks readable but doesn't actually spell anything correctly.

This is especially important when creating designs that include company names, slogans, event information, or other important messaging.

2. Inaccurate Logos and Brand Elements

AI doesn't always reproduce logos or brand elements accurately. Colors, fonts, proportions, and even recognizable symbols can be altered.

For businesses, these inconsistencies can result in printed products that don't accurately represent their brand.

3. Distorted or Incorrect Details

AI-generated artwork can include visual inconsistencies that are easy to overlook, such as:

  • Extra or missing fingers, limbs, or other anatomical features

  • Distorted objects, equipment, or products

  • Incorrect symbols or recognizable details

  • Inconsistent patterns and shapes

  • Unintended elements within the design

These errors may become more noticeable once artwork is enlarged and printed.

4. Poor Print Quality and Resolution

Just because an image looks sharp on a computer screen doesn't mean it's suitable for printing.

AI-generated artwork is often provided as a raster image rather than a vector file. Depending on the original resolution and intended print size, enlarging the artwork can result in blurry edges, pixelation, or loss of detail.

For apparel decoration, promotional products, and other printing applications, proper file quality is essential to achieving the best possible results.

Customer-Supplied Artwork: Who Is Responsible?

At Badlime, we work hard to produce high-quality decorated products using the artwork provided to us.

However, it's important to understand that customers are responsible for reviewing the accuracy and content of their supplied artwork before submitting it for production.

Our production process is focused on preparing and reproducing artwork for the selected decoration method. While our team may identify and communicate obvious concerns, we do not provide a comprehensive review of AI-generated artwork for spelling, factual accuracy, design inconsistencies, or other unintended errors.

If incorrect information, misspelled words, or visual inaccuracies are present in customer-supplied artwork, those errors may appear on the finished product.

Badlime is not responsible for errors originating in customer-supplied artwork, including AI-generated content, that has been approved for production. Corrections, replacements, or reprints resulting from those errors may be subject to additional charges.

What Should You Check Before Submitting AI Artwork?

Before sending your design to Badlime, we recommend taking a few extra minutes to review it carefully.

  • Proofread all text. Double-check spelling, grammar, dates, phone numbers, and company names.

  • Inspect the details. Look closely for distorted objects, unusual shapes, and unintended elements.

  • Verify brand accuracy. Make sure logos, colors, and other branding elements are correct.

  • Check image quality. Confirm the artwork has sufficient resolution for its intended print size.

  • Review the entire design. Zoom in and inspect areas that might not be obvious at first glance.

  • Get a second opinion. Having someone else review the artwork can help catch mistakes you may have missed.

AI Is a Great Tool, but It's Not a Substitute for Proofreading

AI-generated artwork can be a valuable creative resource, and we're excited to see how customers continue using these tools to develop unique designs.

However, AI isn't perfect. Even the most impressive-looking artwork can contain mistakes that affect the final printed product.

Taking the time to carefully review your artwork before submitting it helps prevent unnecessary delays, additional costs, and disappointing results.

At Badlime, our goal is to bring your designs to life with quality decoration and production. By ensuring your supplied artwork is accurate and print-ready, you help us deliver a finished product that meets your expectations.
